Tossa de Mar

Small walled town of the costa Brava with a historic medieval downtown and a beautiful beach.

Tossa de Mar is a historical and cultural coastal village located on the southern Costa Brava.

The town of Tossa de Mar is characterized by its almost entirely preserved medieval city walls and watchtowers dating back to the 12th century. Take a walk through the heart of the Vila Vella, The Old Town of Tossa, and you will discover many beautiful houses and winding alleyways.

There is much more to see in Tossa de Mar: the beautiful castle, the lighthouse, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the steep coastline and the town of Tossa, and the ruin of the late gothic church Esglesia Vella de Sant Vicenç used as a venue for concerts.

In this town you can also enjoy the nice and expansive beach Playa Gran. Within the town boundaries, there are other smaller beaches: Playa Mar Menuda which borders on to the main beach and the wind sheltered Cala Codolar which lies below the walls of the Old Town.

The coast of Tossa de Mar is also ideal for diving.

In the network of narrow streets of Tossa de Mar and along the promenade of the Playa Gran beach, in the Old Town of Tossa, there are numerous top quality restaurants with great atmosphere offering both traditional and modern cuisine.

By night, the illuminated castle and city walls provide a wonderfully romantic and breathtaking backdrop best enjoyed from one of the terraces on the promenade or from the Playa Gran beach itself. Little wonder that so many couples are seen in Tossa.
